An innovative design and great 3-in-1 still/camcorder tripod/monopod

For the price £79 and with 10% off if you register on their site I'd say this was a very good buy. It's fairly well made aluminium legs, the balance between sturdy and weight just about right for me.

I bought it to go with my Canon XA70 camcorder, I also have a Sony A700 DSLR. The fact that it has a 90 degree tilt for photographic portrait taking does #1 make it a useable a still camera tripod, it has an anti-rotate pin on the removal tripod plate that means your still camera and camcorder won't rotate when tilted, a small but very significant feature, why I didn't bother to buy an Ebay replacement tripod head for my Optex tripod base.

Take out the middle column and you've got a #2 very useable monopod, I used it with a pole sling around my neck/shoulder to steady my camcorder while videoing a live protest it was great, I was still able to move out and it meant the weight (XA70 weighs 1.47Kg) from a handheld camcorder was off my wrist, that alone is brilliant, it was my first practical use of it!

It's a fairly robust -while not too heavy- camcorder tripod, the monopod centre column can even be placed horizontally at the top of the tripod and could even be used as a microphone boom on tripod or on the monopod.

My Canon XA70 is currently sat on top of it, the tripod sits firmly on a £35 tripod dolly. To be honest this is the best tripod I've ever bought, it's better than the 1990s Optex one, that leaked oil from its pan/tilt head from purchase and broke the tilt mechanism.

It's a great investment, smart design, well made and for a reasonable price. Yes five stars from me, it's an affordable well designed tripod, not hundreds and hundreds of pounds for a specialist tripod name, but under £100 that's brilliant.
